This provides unique opportunities for bilingual people (or even people native to a particular language) who are looking for a way to make money online. Translating text from one language to another is becoming a fast-growing online profession. And the requirements are pretty easy too so virtually anyone can become a translator part-time, or even full-time.
Start by creating an account with Gengo then take a pre-test which contains 5 multiple-choice translation questions. If you pass, you can take the actual translator's test either as standard or pro translator depending on the result of your pre-test. The actual test requires you to translate a 300-word document. The results will be available between 7-14 days. Once you pass the test, you may go to work dashboard where you can select the jobs you want to do.
How much you earn depends on a number of factors such as the language pairs that you are translating, the industry baseline and the cost of living where you (the translator) are located. It can vary from $0.03 per word (English and French) or $0.018 per character (Japanese and Chinese). Gengo pays every 10th and 25th of the month and the payment request should be made 7 days before. Minimum payout is $2 for Paypal users and $20 for Payoneer.

Gengo was founded in 2008 by Matthew Romaine and Robert Laing. Prior to its early 2012 rebranding, the company was known as "myGengo." Gengo is a Japan-based translation platform with over 21,000 translators worldwide. Globalization has made communication a priority in more languages beyond English, Spanish, Mandarin, Portuguese, Russian, Arabic, German, French, and other major languages used in business. Today, even the most obscure languages are used in social media, business, and other industries in hopes of becoming more inclusive and reach more people as possible.
